What's New on the Writing Front

2/16/2009   Well, I have been busy. On the advice of a writing friend, I have been working diligently shifting Prophecy of Three from Book 1 of a trilogy to a stand alone novel. The logic: a publisher is more likely to pick up a single book of a new novelist than write a contract for a 3 book deal. Makes sense.

Also makes work. I re-wrote the ending on Christmas break and have since been going back and re-shaping, cutting and re-working the rest of the novel to fit the new ending. Many of the characters I had introduced were going to play larger roles in the next two books. Now? Chop time. It's proven to be more work than I expected. Trying to chop and yet make sure all the writing flows and makes sense is quite challenging. But it's also given me a chance to do some re-writing. I've found that my skill level has improved quite a bit with all the short story writing I've been doing and there is much I'm reading in the old manuscript that makes me squirm.

It's all good. I'm within 100 pages of completing the first re-write and a number of friends with their red pens sharpened and ready to edit and crush my spirit! :)

MAN, it feels good to crank out the work again! Haven't lost it, baby, haven't lost it!

Way to go, Bev! So glad to see you're still hard at it.

Keep us updated, please.

I hope you have not lost it, but you haven't posted about this since Feb! How about it, girl? Don't you want to feel that lovin' feeling again?
