The Reviews Come In
2/19/2008 So, I have been paid for my writing. It's true. I have the photocopied cheque taped to my wall so that it's the first thing I see when I wake up.
Tick the box under "real" writer. Now I have two "reviews" on said writing. Tick a few more boxes, if you please. This feels good.
"Great work on the article Bev. I was expecting something dry since it
was going in the Drum...typical newspaper article thing. Your article was a
refreshing surprise - very poetic." Shaunna Morgan, CIER executive, interviewee.
"I've loved the work you've sent so far. You have a unique voice and your writing is beautiful." Chanda Hunnie, editor of CPAWS
There you go. Not a bad beginning. Now if I could only get an agent or publisher to rave about my fiction the same way, I'd be set!
What are you babbling about now? It's a cheque. I cashed it and kept the memory. Seemed logical. Start talking. What's the story?

Photocopied? You can't photocopy the cheque! That doesn't count. You have to put the real cheque up on the wall. Otherwise, it means you can't put it as a writing credit (true story).
