Pan's Labyrinth

5/20/2007   I just watched this amazing movie last night. All the classical elements of fantasy writing are here in this gem. Drawing heavily from mythological precepts and archetypes, the plot juxtaposes the horror of fantasy with the horror of real life. Which one, in the end, is the worst?

Gritty fantasy elements are used. There is no soft, sweet easing of the pain of self discovery in this story. The edginess propels it into the horror realm. This is the type of movie you really must see repeatedly to catch all the nuances and symbolism. I love that depth. Watch this one. Well worth your time.

Fantastic movie, even better in Spanish, the English subtitles aren't the greatest though... BTW I'm on crutches now too :P

Pan's Labyrinth? That was over a month ago! This is weak, Geddes. Very weak. Didn't you have a writer's retreat or something? Seriously.

How am I supposed to keep up with your life if you're not posting. You can't tell me that you're just sitting around staring at walls for the past month...
