Rob Sawyer's Visit

5/1/2007   Rob Sawyer breezed into town last Thursday on book tour for his new work, Rollback. It was a whirlwind 24 hours! How that man keeps the pace is completely beyond me. He wore me out. Proof of that is on his blog (www.sfwriter.com) -- the man posted a picture of me snoozing at McNally's! He will pay for that!

Picked him up at the airport at 12, quick lunch and then off to Shaw TV for an interview with Joanne Kelly. I was able to sit in the studio as it was taped. Interesting but much less complex than I had imagined.

Supper at Cafe Carlos with Fen(Tor) book rep, Judy, McNally sci/fi/fantasy book buyer, Chadwick and his girlfriend, Wendy (also of McNally's). Made good connections and was invited to join a sci/fi/fant writing group here in the city. Yay!

Onto McNally's for the reading and question/answer time. Rob is a fabulous reader and quite funny with the responses. It went very well. The crowd was a good size and Rob seemed pleased. AFTER that, onto CJOB for another interview. I was seriously done in by this point.

Next morning, up and going by 6:30 to an interview with Breakfast TV at the Forks. Yikes! I am SO not a morning person, that nearly killed me. Then breakfast and getting Rob to the airport. WOW.

Excellent learning experience and, as usual, Rob was generous with his time, wisdom and experience. I soaked it all in. Processing may take longer! First I have to catch up on my sleep!

This writing career thing is much more complicated than I ever expected. But I love it. Keep it coming!
